The author, Mikola Dziadok, was born in 1988 and, as an activist of the democratic movement, spent 10 years behind bars for his beliefs. <\/p>\n
Part of the stories was written by Mikola while in captivity, and part after his release. A distinct section among the essays is occupied by Mikola Dziadok\u2019s reflections on the nature of power relations in Ancient Greek myths, written based on what he read in the prison library. “The Colors of the Parallel World” reveals the true parallel world of the Belarusian prison system: with its evil and kindness, joy and betrayal, honesty and treachery.
